Lets make things happen

We have seen terrorism strike Mumbai and a lot of drama happening after that: Politicians showing grief on this issue, a lot of them not in a state to come in front of media now, etc.  The best thing was all Mumbaikar's are together and now we all want a big change in the way government works.

We also had a huge rally in which we demanded some reforms in the present political scenario. After that some top leaders quit their positions, some had to leave their seats, and such small reforms. But is this what we demanded? What we got is just another one of those pervert men deciding policies for us. There has been so much cheating and corruption in there that it will take some big steps to bring in the reforms that we want... And right now it’s the best time to do that, as it is said, "Striking while the iron is hot."

I don’t really expect anything from the politicians as the whole system is corrupt. But there is one thing that can better the system and that can be a fear in the minds of government workers of losing their pride and job. They have a highly secured and unmonitored job and that’s why we see so many delay, bribe and other factors in every small work we need to get done. Politicians and government are least bothered about these issues and I totally understand the fact. They have so many other important jobs like pulling the other party down, securing their seats, keeping the un-social driving elements happy, and too many to name. I agree with them that they don’t have time to look into such issues. So I believe we must take care of these by our own.

These things may sound irrelevant with respect to the present terrorist attack that we have had. But don’t you think it’s because of the laid back attitude of our government. Why not start from the base and develop everything right from a small ration department to the big military units. The big question that would arise in your mind would be "How can we, without any power bring such reforms?" Alright, I have an idea and if it works, it can bring wonders to our system.

Well!! Who said we don’t have power? These days we have the power of media. Media is willing to show any masala news to be ahead of their competitors.

Let’s use this fact for betterment of our surrounding. Why not, without the knowledge of traffic police, record a video in our mobile phone of one, who asks for bribe or the one who accepts it and send it to these TV channels, RTO office and Police department. Just keep the mobile phone in hand with recording ON without his knowledge and camera somewhere facing the officer. I believe this will be tehelka news display for channels and they will be more than happy to telecast such stuff!! Same can be done with the laid back and corrupt government office workers. One or two cases, and there will be a fear in the minds of government workers. They will fear us, the ones whom they work for. A video must be taken on how traffic police stands in hidden areas on signals to catch those who break it. Hello... Your are doing a good job by catching crime; but priority must be to stop crime. If they stand in a visible position, no one in first case will break the signal. But that’s not what their motto is. That 50 Rs. Note from us matters more to them.

Such things must be brought to the display of government who is already aware of it; but once it comes on television or newspaper, it will get some limelight and taking action against these activities will become a necessity for the government. I know it will also add to our burden when we break the laws, but don’t you think even we will be more careful about breaking a signal next time if traffic police is under the fear of being caught if they let us go for a Rs.50 note. This will better the traffic management system as a whole. And this applies to all other public departments.

In a government office if you capture such an incident, just mail the video to media, police department, as well as the officer in charge above that person. Under pressure, even he will have to do something against him or at least warn him of further actions as now even he knows that the same message has been delivered to media and his position will be endangered if no action is taken. So some action will be expected.

I believe this is that little bit that we can do to create a fear in the minds of government workers and slowly making our message reach the top workers, politicians. Let’s make them realize that it is we who decide the rules. They are just a source to work with us and not rule us the way they do right now. Let’s try and eradicate the corruption from our system. Let’s join hands and start this "Sting operation" and let’s do this bit for the betterment of policies in our country!!
